Oklahoma Trophy Ranch

A Brief History and Introduction to OTR

Enjoy a great outdoor experience at the Historic Oklahoma Trophy Ranch (OTR) in Southeastern Oklahoma.

Located at the intersection of Pontotoc, Coal and Hughes Counties, this 3,500-acre ranch is where rolling hills of the Cross Timbers and Arkansas Valley Eco-Regions meet. Muddy Boggy Creek and Sincere Creek run through the property where hardwood bottoms and surrounding hills support mature hardwood stands interspersed with lush native tall grass prairies. The ranch supports abundant wildlife from White-Tail Deer to Cottontail and American Bison. The ranch is located less than 2 hours (100 Miles) south of Tulsa, OK; 1.5 hours (90 miles) northwest of Paris, Texas and about 2.5 hours (130 miles) northeast of Dallas, Texas.

Oklahoma Trophy Ranch has a long and rich history. Over the last 40 years, this Ranch served as an agricultural and wildlife research center for the Sam Noble Foundation for more than 25 years. This foundation conducted extensive research on the native deer population and how deer and cattle operations impact each other’s management systems. Then Bill and Susie Brewster acquired the property and renamed it the Oklahoma Trophy Ranch using it as a commercial hunting operation. In 2013, Advanced Ecology, Ltd. and Bird Forestry purchased the property and placed a conservation easement on the ranch making it the first “Species Bank” in America for the Endangered American Burying Beetle (ABB). Since that time there has been a focused effort to restore native habitat to benefit of the ABB.

An “American Bison Conservation Herd” was established on the ranch recently to promote and protect the American Bison - America’s National Mammal. OTR’s owners also recognizes the importance of American Bison to native prairie ecosystems. According to historical data located to date, the American Bison have not roamed this area since the 1860s. Being able to reintroduce this iconic animal to the ranch, hopefully, will start a new chapter for its already rich history. In 2020 the ranch as OTR Bison has been marketing Bison Meat on our web page www.otrbison.com or type in OTR Bison Meat to find us.

The Oklahoma Trophy Ranch lodge, completely remodeled in 2019, features a full kitchen, recreation area with a pool table, and four bedrooms with two twin-over-queen bunk beds in each room. Each bedroom will accommodate six people, total maximum occupancy is 24 people.

A ranch tour, access to fishing and a great hunting are available for your enjoyment. Our Ranch Manager, Steve Burge, is a wildlife biologist and has an excellent wildlife program if you are interested.
